About Stepping Stones Day Nursery
Stepping Stones Private Day Nursery is located in Halifax in a renovated church and is on two floors. The whole of the upper floor being dedicated to the pre-school children. The ground floor has three rooms and these are used by the babies, the toddlers and the children who come and join us before and at the end of their school day.
Meet Our Proprietor
"Hello, my name is David Marsden and I am the proprietor of Stepping Stones Private Day Nursery. I opened in Halifax in January 1996 and since then watched the nursery grow from 32 to 52 places as it is today. I have seen many changes in the childcare sector and have lots of experience in this field as well as being a family man myself.
I am a local business man with interest and experience in the property sector and building trades. I renovated this old church building and created our day nursery in 1995 and whilst this began as a lone venture for me I eventually enlisted the support of my mother in order to complete my dream."
Where We Are
We are conveniently situated within easy reach of both Bradford and Halifax town centres and only a short walk from the Boothtown Children's Centre to which we are affiliated. To locate us please use the map on our Contact Page
Our Facilities
There is a large and secure outdoor play area which the children use every day to enable us to continue our learning outdoors. A place where there is an opportunity to run and enjoy physical challenges on both the grassed and hard surfaces, and experience the seasonal changes whilst watching the trees in the garden from spring through to winter. We embrace the outdoors and offer a range of activities and experiences to give children the opportunity to learn and develop.
We keep in touch with the local community by taking children out on visits to the local shops, library, parks and museums. We also have visits from the local police and road safety.
Places Available
We provide full and part-time educational places for children 0 to 11 years. We offer a pick up and drop off service to many of the local schools and we also have breakfast club and out of school club for the 5-11 age range.
Accreditations
The nursery is Ofsted inspected and approved and works alongside the local early years partnership. Our Ofsted report proved that we provide a quality service, achieving a "good" in all areas. This report is available to view at the nursery or online. We keep records of all children's development, which parents are encouraged to add input to at any stage.
We currently have a qualified teacher working with us for part of the week, working across all the age ranges and rooms, developing and implementing planning and staff training.
We have attained Step One to Quality and are working towards Step Two. We have gained ‘Cute Fruit Plus’ Dental Health Award in 2009.
We currently have a 4 star rating award for our kitchen from Calderdale MBC, in March 2010.
We have recently upgraded our outdoor provision to a high standard. The purpose being to further promote children’s learning and development.
